In Gothenburg around 100,000 people cycle – every day! That means that approximately seven per cent of all journeys in the city are by bike. Increased cycling is good for the city and city life. Cyclists create life and movement in the streets and make for an attractive urban environment. In well-knit city the bike is a rapid way to get around; it doesn’t take up much room, is quiet and does not pollute the air. When more people use bikes the pressure on the roads and public transport is reduced, which is good for all road users. And for cyclists, cycling also has benefits in the form of improved health and well-being.
